How often should an engine air filter be changed?

The air that enters your engine flows through the air filter. The filter catches sand and other debris protecting your engine and helping it last longer. The engine air filter should be replaced between 20,000 and 45,000 kilometers, depending on driving conditions. If you have a turbocharged engine or often drive on unpaved roads, it needs to be changed more often. If you don’t drive a lot, an air filter should be replaced at least every 3 years.
